Creative Direction Shoot

This photo shoot was inspired by one of my favorite fashion photographers, Richard Avedon. His work has always been a beautiful inspiration to me when I photograph and pose my models. The photo below is titled Jean Shrimpton Jumping, 1966. In this image and many others of his work we see Avedon capture a unique way of motion caught on camera. In my own photo, on the left, I wanted to use the same idea as inspiration for my own shoot. The photo in the top right is titled Nelle Iocovozzi Jumping, 2021. Being in full charge of every aspect of creative side of this shoot, I styled, photographed, and posed the model to capture my vision.

The photograph below is from Carl Bower’s Chica Barbie collection. The black and white film photos in the collection are of Colombias pageants and how the nature of beauty is viewed in such an environment. Inspired by the the photo below, I went further to do my own re-creation of the photo. I took full creative direction in the lighting, styling, position of models, and photographing.
